As soon as you publish a book of this nature, things change!

Great care has been taken to ensure that the facts given in these guides are correct and up to date, but please feel free to contact me with any additional information, updates or corrections so that I can keep this site up to date.

Page 65 - Dive 4.29 This bay is known locally as Bae Fawr (Big Bay)

Page 107- June 2010 - Although discussions are underway regarding the demolition or rebuilding of Trefor Pier, it remains unchanged.

Page 123 - The Nature Trail & Telephone Cables. On a really good neap tide, we found that high-water slack was about 2 hours and 15 minutes before high-water Liverpool, not 2 hours as stated. As
mentioned in the book, I still can't recommend diving at this time, as slack-water is either too brief or non-existent. Always dive at low-water slack on a neap tide. The website that gave the current underwater visibility at http://straits.bangor.ac.uk is no longer available to view. (Aug 2009)

Page 129- Access is no longer available. There has been a landslip to the west of the wreck.

Page 136 - Porth China -- In May 2004, a padlocked gate was erected across the access road.

Page 155 - The footpath is still blocked.

Page 171- We understand that the life belt on the cliff top above the "Hermine" is no longer there.

Page 178- Craig y Mor reef. Parking is now severely restricted.

Page 179 -The sign "Henoed/ Elderly people" has been replaced by a "Left-hand bend" and a "Horses" sign. At Easter, 2004, the wreck was buried under a layer of sand. It was still buried at mid-April 2005. The wreck was mostly visible during April and May 2007, but has disappeared again in July 2011.

Page 195 -" Kyle Firth" - Just after we went to print, a dive in August 2003 revealed two boilers, not one as stated. This now throws into doubt the identification of the "Kyle Firth" and the "Editor."

Page 197 - Bricks were made by Gartcraig, not Cartcraig.

By-Laws

Page 236- As of the 1st April 2010, new regulations came into force regarding scallop-fishing around Wales. Scallop-dredging is now prohibited close inshore, a move that is bound to be welcomed by divers. For details, see the map at http:// wales.gov.uk/docs/drah/publications/100203scallopsummaryupdateden.pdf

In addition, the Sea Fishery Committees have ceased to exist as independent bodies in Wales, and the Welsh staff and resources of the two former Committees have now been amalgamated into the Welsh Assembly Government. However, they and their by-laws will in essence remain in place until they can be reviewed, so you can continue to refer to the Sea Fisheries Committee regulations.

Article 4 of The Scallop Fishing (Wales) (No 2) Order 2010 explains that it is an
offence to "fish for, take or kill scallops in Welsh waters during the period 1 May to 31 October in each year by any means, including diving." However, for the calendar year of 2010, the period shall run from 1 June. In effect there is a blanket ban on removing scallops by any means at any time from Welsh waters during the specified months.

During the 'open' period, divers may only take scallops for personal consumption, so it is an offence for divers to sell scallops they take unless they are a registered seller of fish.
