The Sound of the Royal Charter
Even on a relatively calm day, with an easterly wind, the waves can crash onto the site of the wreck of the Royal Charter. One can image the terrifying scene that October day, as bodies were pounded against the sharp, black, flat rocks, with their cracks and crevices that trap bodies and break limbs and skulls. Even a slight swell can cause air to be forced through the small holes in the porous limestone, creating a mournful sigh, which can make the hairs on your neck prickle, in this place where so many tragically lost their lives.

The Cuttlefish and the Hermit-crab
The battle with life and death still occurs amongst the marine life on the site of the Royal Charter wreck, as seem in this attack on a hermit-crab by an extremely well-camouflaged cuttlefish. It lies in wait for its prey, looking just like the surrounding sea-bed.
